E’s Edit: 2025 Beauty Standbys
When it comes to beauty—specifically makeup and skincare—I’ve got my standbys. These are the products that I’ve carried with me into 2025. If you happen to be looking for some additions or replacements to your routine, search no further!
Skin Care
I use this product every day, and usually, it’s the only tinted skincare my face receives. They recently added a Deep Tinted version to the line for darker skin tones.
My esthetician turned me on to this product (thank you, Kim!!), and not only is it affordable, but it’s really effective. I add a couple of drops into the EltaMD for a dewy/glowy look. It also works to minimize pores and soothe the skin. I’m on bottle #2 and won’t be looking elsewhere for insta-glow this year. Buy this product directly from Beauty of Joseon as there are several counterfeits being sold on Amazon.
When I learned that putting oil on my face would NOT make me break out, I was a changed woman with very hydrated skin. It’s probably been 9 years since my thinking evolved, and as my budget has shifted, so have the oils I use. I could easily do a whole post on face and body oils (and one day I will), but for today, I’ll just share my 2025 standby. It smells beautiful and feels like such a luxury to slather on every night before bed.
Makeup
As mentioned above, I go pretty light on makeup, and most days wear nothing but my tinted sunscreen. But on days when I want to kick it up a notch, these are my go-to’s:
I love the dual-sided wand, which gives the right amount of length and thickness every time. It stays on great but also comes off easily.
A few dots here and there, and that’s all I need for most days!
Fara Hamidi Smudge & Contour Lip Pencil
I am a lip color person. I love it all: glossy, matte, pink, red, Burt’s Bees, Chanel, and everything in between. Neutrals are my sweet spot, and I’m always on the hunt for my next everyday, always-on colorway. One thing I had never been was a lip pencil person—until the launch of Fara Hamidi’s extraordinary line and, more specifically, her Smudge and Contour Lip Pencil. WOW! Not only do these lip pencils give your purse the most beautiful pop of blue you’ll ever see, but the product itself is even better, with a perfect color for every lip. I’m now 100% a pencil person.
Hair and Body
To my friends who know me well, I almost never wash my hair but I’v also never been a fan of dry shampoo—they always seem too chalky, too toxic, or too smelly. UNTIL NOW! My hairstylist Stephanie, turned me onto K18 AirWash when I was on the hunt for a new option for my teenage daughter. I decided to give it a try first and WOW! I don’t think I washed my hair for a week, and it looked and felt clean the entire time! It’s got a bit of grit to it, which I love.
I play a fair amount of tennis, which means I’m in a tennis skirt a lot. Living in a cool, often gray climate (Portland, OR) means my skin isn’t seeing much sun. In other words, I’m really pale and need a bit of color on my tennis legs. I have been using this self-tanner for several years, and I absolutely love it. It’s easy to apply, doesn’t look orange, and doesn’t stain my tennis whites. I use both the spray (usually for my arms, chest, and stomach) and the drops for my lower half.
